Walk 1: Public Park, Klong Haeng
This peaceful park is a lovely local escape — a smooth green track loops around a lake, through trees and open grass. It’s perfect for a run, cycle, or slow walk with plenty of benches to pause and take in the view.
You can stroll the full loop in under an hour or double up for a more active walk. The grounds are maintained but still wild, and rarely crowded — you’ll see joggers, families picnicking at the pagodas, many walkers. There are the usual stray dogs but they are well-fed by locals and quite friendly.
There’s an outdoor gym, though most of the equipment has seen better days; still, a few bars remain popular with callisthenics regulars.
We recommend coming in late afternoon and pausing to sit by the lake. As the sun sets, light glances off the water and swallows swoop low to skim the lake for insects — a quietly beautiful moment that makes even an ordinary walk feel special.
Easily reached from Ao Nang, this is an ideal spot for a quiet morning walk or an after-work unwind surrounded by greenery and gentle mountain air.

Walk 2: Chao Fah Park, Krabi Town
Chao Fah Park isn’t a park in the usual sense — more a long, grassy promenade that runs beside the Krabi River. What it lacks in greenery it makes up for in atmosphere, with open views across the water to the mangroves, fishing villages, and mountains beyond.
A single walkway follows the rivers edge with some benches to take in the view, some interesting sculptures, water fountains and toward the top end, some night market stalls.
There's some pleasant hustle and bustle around the pier as boats come in and out. Enquiring boatmen will approach to offer to take you across to the Bat Cave, fishing village and other tourist spots, its very hassle-free and part of the local scene.
You will typically encounter locals and tourists alike taking a stroll, fishermen with their rods over the side, market stall owners and people lazing on the grass. Go in the day time for the tranquil views and in evening to see it lit up and feel the night market come to life.

Sometimes all we want is a walk - not a sweaty hike, not something that needs gear, planning, or preparation (there’s plenty of that in Krabi - article coming soon!). Just twenty minutes, maybe an hour, somewhere peaceful and away from traffic, to stretch the body, and breathe a little nature back in.
Whether it’s a mindful start to the morning or an evening wind-down, these easy local walks offer three simple options to choose from - or to rotate between as the mood takes you.
Walk 3: Nopparat Thara Beach, Ao Nang
This is a beautiful walk that hides in plain sight. At the far quieter end of Ao Nang is a lovely stretch of coast: flat, scenic, and continually changing as you move from developed beachfront, to the boats on the pier, and the wild shoreline at the far end.
The walk can begin right down at the Landmark Night Market, either by pavement or beach. You'll see runners, walkers, families having picnics under the trees. Eventually the pavement becomes a dirt path leads through casuarina groves. It’s shaded and quiet although depending on time of day and season you may encounter the island tour meeting points and the bustle of tourists locating their boats. The tall trees give the walk a softly, shaded forest vibe. From here you can dip back onto the beach at various points, or follow the walkway that runs parallel to the shore, past simple shelters and resting spots.
At the furthest point low creeping vines sweep across the sand, dotted with purple morning-glory flowers, it feels wild and peaceful, there are beautiful views of the limestone islands that sit close to shore. You have the option to stray toward the pier where longtail boats line up in colourful rows, resting on the sand between trips out to the islands. It’s a working shoreline, and there’s a gentle rhythm to it: boatmen chatting, engines humming, ropes being coiled. It’s hassle-free and part of the everyday life of Ao Nang’s community of Boatmen.
It’s a simple walk, but one that shows several sides of Krabi at once — wild nature, working beach life, and a relaxed community shoreline.
